You should be able to find the register button under the top row of links to Movieprop.com home, and so on. Its under that or underneath a banner depending on the page you try to register from.
Its visible to me. I see what you mean you have a nickname but an unregistered status let me check on it.
By the way are you able to access the forum from moviepropforum.com
or are you having to use
http://movieprop.invisionzone.com?
I see that most domain name servers have updated such that one can view the site from moviepropforum.com
I see one can view the forum on that domain at anybrowser.com too.
My ISP roadrunner has not updated their DNS so I am having to access from
http://movieprop.invisionzone.com so just curious on this.
When the DNS update is propagated properly I will begin promoting the forum more.

Interesting it seems one can post without being a registered user and even pick their nickname. I will have to change that setting.
The register button appears clear to me its near the top under the links to Movieprop.com home and the banner if its on a page that has one. Tell me if you don't see it now.

Thats a good forum I already link to that forum along with several other good prop forums that collectors may enjoy at
http://movieprop.com/othermessageboards.htm No single forum can be the be all end all on a given topic. Better to enjoy the best aspects of all forums I believe.

"this forum sucks. Try this one istead:"
I tried logging into that forum today Tim, and bare in mind I've been a member of that forum since it started and was a long term member of his old forum, I found I was banned! No reason was mailed to me or explanation given (please let me know if any comment was made.). I didn’t even say anything offensive; unless you’re a Nazi I guess and take offence to truth being spoken. No sour grapes though, I’ve never encountered a forum that related to one of my hobbies that succeeded in actually draining my interest in the hobby, so the banning comes as a relief. Plus you know what goes around comes around. I’m hoping this forum is a lot less elitist and more open. I will make an effort to try and help that along.

What kind of elitism do you think should be avoided?
Long term it may possibly prove helfpul to allow certain discussions to be held more privately so as to allow authentication secrets to not be too widely known by the non collector/less than reuptable replicator world. But I believe in open discussions to the extent possible naturally.

Well look it depends on what sort of site you want. One thing I have noticed is that people who are just starting out in the hobby or maybe only have a couple of items or don’t have the big bucks for more expensive props are not encouraged to chat about props. I mean most of the discussions about props ends up about money and how much of an investment a piece is and I cant remember a discussion on the actual prop making process which is my main interest, sure each to his own but I cant stand that overall feeling of profit making when I read some of that stuff. There are a lot of members on that other forum but not many of them actually bother to post, if they ever return to it at all. I’m lucky in having made a couple of friends who work in special effects and make up in the Australian film industry and have loads of tales to share but I never would as I never felt anyone who was active would appreciate them.

Something else, not too sure how you'd feel about this, but I think dealers shouldnt be allowed to overtly promote them selves. Not to say ban them but make sure they come in as a collector not as someone whose only posts are to alert you to their next sale.

I agree too much commercialism in a forum can discourage a lot of good things. But things like signatures which allow posters to promote whatever they want basically in exchange for posting something that helps others is a hallmark of forums in general.
Most posts relating to props are of the lines, I want this, I want to sell this, or look at this. I segmented this forum into subcategories to try to avoid an overrun of these types of posts everywhere.
A forum that requires login just to view is also not going to encourage new collectors to visit or post in general. That facet of other forums is limiting.
How would you suggest limiting the signature feature or commercial style posts? In the end I think the quality of ones posts can help or harm the site or service one is trying to promote.
Would love to hear some of your stories Red Rocket in the future too.
