Hello everyone

I've just registered with this forum and hope to post regularly on here.

Here's a brief bit about me

I am in the UK and a big movie fan but have only recently got into prop collecting after moving from purchasing the movies, their soundtracks, posters, stills and action figures.

The next logical step was to the props and costumes, although I still do delve in and out of the other movie related areas I collect. It was E-bay that drew me in and after purchasing my first prop from there it was all downhill biggrin.gif I think my first item was a Resident Evil zombie outfit.

Being an all round movie fan I have acquired a number of diverse props from different movies although am starting to focus that passion, although imagine I'll always get items from lots of different movies if something appeals. My particular favourite movie genres are horror, sci-fi and action.

Hope to "chat" with you all. I've had a brief browse of the site and everyone seems very nice and the information provided is always very informative.

Cheers

Welcom Stew, glad to have you here! What's your favorite movie? Which movie or tv show do you have the most props from?

Hi,

What's my favourite movie? Hmm I've always thought thats an impossible question to answer as there's just too many biggrin.gif

Some of my top favourite movies are Aliens, Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Weird Science, Dawn of the Dead, Face/Off, Elvira, Spaceballs, Dog Soldiers and on and on. (these are in no particular order, I should add)

One thing I am is eclectic in movie tastes liking a wide variety.

As to most movie props I think that may be currently Shanghai Knights but soon to be a triple tie with Tank Girl and Dog Soldiers with 3 a piece. My most treasured item has been and remains the jacket worn by Bill Pullman as Lone star in Spaceballs.

How about others whats their favourite movie (or movies) and their most treasured prop item?

Stew I see we like the same basic sci-fi, action generes. My favorite movies well probably somethine like Terminator 2, Aliens, Predator, Commando; the classic action/scifi movies so to speak.
I do like zombie movies in particular, action scifi, and teen movies.
I like cruel intentions, wild things, Dawn of the Dead, resident evil, and so on.
I really like bad zombie movies too, good ones too but really any and all more or less.
I probably started with action figures and such then later moved to props. Ebay and online auctions make it so easy to find things that used to be so hard to find.
I have gotten a bit more into action figures lately , I will complete my classic masters of the universe collection someday. Some of the figures I lack are so costly. Hard to believe a prop gun of which less than 10 or so were made costs less than a laser light skeletor or giant tytus or megator figure for example.
Props I focus on though as when they are available you might not have a chance to get a particular item again for a real long time.

Hi, there

All those other movies you mentioned are pretty much all the others on my list of faves!

The underated Commando is a classic. Absolutely as regards zombie movies, I'm a big fan of that genre and love to watch movies that cross the line of being so bad they're good. Troma one's are always fun to watch, and recently saw a Zombie movie called the Stink of Flesh, zombies & swingers, which seemed a genius idea!

I think my passion for action figure collecting grew from my regret of when I was younger selling all my original star wars items at bootfairs and the such, something I'm sure we've all done. Your right the prices do often surprise me, I'm a big fan of the Gerry Anderson shows and have a number of these figures and have often found that some of these have been as much as props. What other action figures do you collect?

I am quickly learning that if you want a prop item, you have to take the plunge there and then as otherwise it could be lost to you forever!

I believe I saw Stink of the Flesh. I liked dead life also ever see that.
With a real bad horror movie I tend to find something unique about it and nickname it accordingly. Lower budget horror movies often have something that is their trademark.
I have seen one with dozens of extreme eye closeups, record amounts of smoking, and so on. In one zombie movie ice was used to thwart the zombies, so thats the ice movie for example. With props often there are just a handful made.
Some items I have I know the history because I passed on them originally yet got them later on when the collector that bought it decides to sell it. That gives you an idea how hard to come by some props can be.
As far as action figures, I have what I grew up with Star Wars, transformers, Masters of the universe. Haven't tried to complete my Classic Star Wars line because I have no weapons for figures so it would be like acquiring them all again via a series of big lots on ebay or what not. If I ever get around to completing my classic Masters of the Universe line, I might go for Super Powers after that, or maybe classic Star Wars.
