Hi, fellow collectors!

I just signed on this wonderful site today and I was wondering if I could pick the "collective" brains of my fellow collectors. Some months ago, I purchased a Jaws prop on Ebay. It was supposedly "Screen Used"-but I couldn't find it anywhere in the movie. The seller (a reputable prop house in CA said it was from Quint's shack. He said it didn't survive the production cut.) It was also autographed by Roy Sheider. Its probably real (it cost me enough) but my question is this : Are there ANY SCREEN SEEN props from this movie to be had? Just today, I bid (and lost) on another Jaws Ebay item from the UK. The seller said he purchased it from the states some 7 years ago. Before I bid, I watched Jaws (from the 4 millionth time) and couldn't find it anywhere in the movie. The seller told me that it was a stage prop and probably lost to cutting as well. Also, I attended the Jaws fest on the Vineyard and I could see that many of the most desirable props are already spoken for. Does anyone have any idea where an "Average Joe" can score an original prop from their favorite movie? (in case you didn't guess, that movie is Jaws LOL!!)

Thanks so much for you help and consideration!!

All the best!

I have seen supposed teeth from the animatronic Jaws in the past for sale. Thats about it.
The only issue with things that didn't survive to the final production cut is they could just as easily have been back up items. People that work in movies seldom distinguish the two. I imagine with patience Jaws things will show up in the future.

Knowing if things make the final cut or are backups is one reason wardrobe from Tv shows has almost no value to me unless I know the episode its from. Otherwise one might have to watch 100 episodes of Friends or what not just to find out they can't recognize where a tagged item was supposedly used. And if you can't see it you can never know if its screen used, a backup, or from a cut scene. This is provided the item even has production origins and is not just a fakely labeled ordinary shirt.

Sometimes if you watch close you will notice some oddball things with props used in productions. For example I got a prop gun from Beetleborgs the Tv show recently. Its like red and purple, while most screen stills one sees have a gun thats more grayish. Upon a little checking I discovered the show featured Japanease and US footage mixed together. In the Japanese footage they used the gray guns, in the US footage they used the red/purple guns. In the actual show you can see the guns change from one color to the other throughout an episode. Without checking and going by the first picture I found of the gun in the series I might assume the gun I had was a test paint reject.
Ironically on the toy gun released in the US its has the purple/red paint scheme but on the toy box cover features the grayish gun being held by a character.
